Friday Night Lights- Building in the Community

Everyone in Our Community shares a passion for life and wellness… and most of all caring about the community they work and live in. During the 5 weeks of Friday Night Lights competition, we are proud to announce that we will be raising money for two very worthy Organizations: Week 2 (17.2- March 3rd):

At reGROUP, our mission is to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education, and advocacy. Serving the 25 counties of northwest Minnesota and surrounding areas, reGROUP clients are people living in long-term recovery from addiction. We, along with friends, family, and allies, envision a world where recovery from addiction is understood, promoted, embraced and celebrated, and where all who seek it have access to the support, care, and resources they need to achieve long-term recovery. We envision a world where recovery from addiction is understood, promoted, embraced and celebrated and where all who seek it have access to the support, care and resources they need to achieve long-term recovery. From Jacob Metcalf, Site Coordinator: "We have a plethora of resources on addiction recovery at reGROUP, all compiled from our staff through the last 2 1/2 years since we started. Our services include, but are not limited to, Telephone Recovery Support and Peer Recovery Coaching with trained Recovery Coaches, Justice Outreach with surrounding adult and juvenile Drug Courts, recovery groups hosted by us and plenty of volunteer opportunities." Monetary donations will support recovery programming, volunteer opportunities for adult and juvenile drug court participants, educational materials for our community trainings and peer advocacy at treatment centers and surrounding communities. Week 4 (17.4- March 17th):

Luther Hall is licensed as a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) that provides shelter, education, therapy, med management, life/social skills development and care for kids across the State of North Dakota. Luther hall works with both males and females between the ages of 10 - 17. Over the course of 9 months to a year, kids and their families get a unique opportunity to look inward. The goal is to address the challenges that were present before their time at Luther Hall, in a way that allows them to be successful with life after Luther Hall.

From Coach Ryan Daniel, Behavioral Health Services- Lead: "One of our programs at Luther Hall focuses on experiential learning through recreation. Recreation helps develop self-esteem, leadership and social skills, a sense of normalcy, healthy risk taking, as well as improved physical and mental health. Rec is one of staffs favorite times because it's a time where the kids truly get to be kids. Many of the team games, Tyler and I have come up with, allow all kids to participate and support the goal of the game, no matter what their fitness level or athletic ability is....sound like something else you know?"

Luther Hall would use the donations on one or all four of these ideas to help support the existing program:

  1. Jersey Pennys

  2. Flag football belts.

  3. Gator Balls (Little foam dodge balls)

  4. emWave2 (A really cool tool, which uses bio-metrics, to help kids learn how to calm their body down. The kids we work with lack the ability to identify emotions, self soothe or use healthy coping skills. This is an awesome way to get kids to listen to their body and manage emotions. )
